· First gathering of UP4 students
 
On 16 April 2016, at the first gathering of UP4 students, six Formula Student racing teams (of the nine that represent UP4 universities in this event) got together on the Vera Campus in Valencia.
  
Along with the Valencian team (FS UPV), the gathering was attended by four of the five teams that represent the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (Dynamics UPC Manresa, ETSEIB Motorsport, UPC EcoRacing and Vilanova Formula Team) and the UPCT Racing Team (from the Universidad Politécnica de Cartagena). The event was also attended by Pisuerga Sport (a team from the Universidad de Valladolid), and students from the Université de Valenciennes participated as special guests.
  
Formula Student—a high-performance engineering competition organised by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers with the support of top professionals in the automotive industry—is Europe’s foremost motor racing event in the educational sphere.
  
To round off the event, two single-seat racing cars took a spin around the campus before the eyes of students, professors, administrative and service staff, and various other spectators.

· UP4 Camp
 
The first UP4 summer science camp was held in Castelldefels from 11 to 16 July 2016. Thirty secondary school students took part. The students—divided into three teams and assisted by group leaders—were presented with a simulation of an unexpected, catastrophic event, and each day the participants had to tackle a different scientific and technological challenge.
